Cover Reveal!

Finally we get to the BEAUTIFUL cover for the 3rd book in The Selection series - The One!

Enjoy it!

Forever Mine (Moreno Brothers #1) by Elizabeth Reyes

Forever Mine (The Moreno Brothers, #1)Forever Mine by Elizabeth Reyes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well, at least I didn't cry. But I did get sick to my stomach and so mad at the main female character, Sarah, that I was shaking. I'm not sure which is better! LOL.

This is a GREAT story. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars from me is I felt the writing as a bit stiff. But I loved the story, the plot, the resolution and obviously I fell hard for the characters. I love passionate men, and Angel sure delivers on that front! Sarah was an idiot, but to her defense she never really had any good role models in her life, but at some point you think common sense and your conscience would take over! It did, but too late, lol. All works out, of course, tho.

I really do recommend this book to lovers of contemporary romance! It was well worth my time and I think it will be worth yours too! There are a total of 5 books in this series, The Moreno Brothers, and a spin off titled Fate. I plan on reading all of them!

Read it and LOVE it!

Storm (Elemental #1) by Brigid Kemmerer

Storm (Elementals, #1)Storm by Brigid Kemmerer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Excellent beginning to a series! Proper review to come.

Well I have to say, I am a huge paranormal fan. And there comes a time when you think that just about everything has been done and you are not going to see anything new and fresh again... Storm just blew that out of the water!

This is a new (at least to me) concept in paranormal, regarding the elements and where people fall on a pentragram shaped chart regarding their abilities to control water, air, earth, fire and spirit (or all 5 together). In this story we encouter a family of all pure Elementals (each at the very point on the star for a different element) who is the target of hate and jealousy. Enter an unsuspecting human named Becca who comes to the rescue of Chris being beaten to a pulp in a parking lot... Well, you can guess how it all goes, learning about who is what and who is "good", "bad", right and wrong.

It's a great book about family dynamics, feuds and ignorance. I can't wait to continue on with this series. There are 4 full novels and several novellas. If you are into Paranormal books, this should be on your MUST READ list!

Seriously, READ IT AND LOVE IT!!!!

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I haven't given a book 2 stars in ages. This started out so good with so much promise. the prose was great, the story had such promise.

The trip, the trip was terrible. Felt like total rambling with absolutely NO point what so ever. I learned nothing.

I hated the characters.

Bah.

Unless you are a DIE HARD Libba Bray fan, don't waste your time.

Freak of Nature by Julia Crane

Freak of Nature (IFICS, #1)Freak of Nature by Julia Crane
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Ok, sadly, I was disappointed in this one. I don't want to discourage anyone from reading it, but it didn't live up to MY expectations. The cover is gorgeous and for some reason in my mind that equals good book, lol. Clearly I need to adjust my perceptions!

This book was good. And it's going to be a series, so I'll read book 2 to see if it improves but if not I'll be dropping the series.

Julie Crane is an accomplished author so I know that's not the problem. For some reason the characters fell flat. I never invested myself in them the way I do in other books. It was an easy read, i read it in less than one day... It just felt like there were a lot of holes in the story and i was missing a lot of information. I liked Kaitlyn's character, and I loved Lucas, but i never felt like I REALLY got to know them.

Plus the end was just tied up way too neat. And even tho I love a HEA, it was just WAY too easy. Way too easy. And we never got to hear from her one and only friend, Quess, after she returns to the compound. Sometimes you need conflict to enhance the story.

Anyway, like I said, I'll read book two - because I have series' i adore that I didn't care too much for book one! I sincerely hope it improves!

If you read it I hope you like it!

Slammed (Slammed, #1)Slammed by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ok, yet another book where I can't write a review because I'M CRYING TOO HARD! Ugh. Tissues please!

Review to come.

For some reason, I've been putting off writing this review. I think it's because I don't know how to do this book justice with my words. This is a beautiful piece or writing and a fantastic book. I don't like tear jerkers but this is DEFINITELY WORTH IT. First of all, the story is amazing, second, the poetry (yes poetry) is amazing, and 3rd the writing is effortless and fantastic. This book introduced me to SLAM poetry. I ususally hate poetry, but I loved this type and this book actually inspired me to write a poem about my divorce. I've since written several more. There is no higher praise for a book than to say it inspired YOU to write something...

I'm not going to go into the story - you'll just have to read it yourself or check out the synopsis on your favorite book site. Just whatever you do - READ THIS BOOK! It will change you, I promise!

Feast of Fools (Morganville Vampires #4) by Rachael Caine

Feast of Fools (The Morganville Vampires, #4)Feast of Fools by Rachel Caine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow - talk about action packed and surprises galore!!!!

This is the 4th book in the Morganville Vampire series. If you haven't started the series, be sure to go back and start with Glass Houses. This series is COMPLETELY differnt from any other Vampire series I've read. It's snarky and witty and I love it! I'm reading it along with 2 of my book friends and all 3 of us totally enjoy it.

Anyway, new players emerge in this book, plus Claire's parents move to Morganville (!!!) and a LOT of new information, good and bad, emerges to push us farther along the story. Major battle lines have been drawn. The most powerful Vampire in town is playing "the long game" and some of our characters will certainly be used as pawns in this dangerous game. Our friend Myrninn has been trapped by Bishop (the most evil) and we don't know what will happen to him!

This is a wild ride from start to finish! It won't take you long to get through it all at, because with every page you just HAVE TO KNOW what happens!

Either go start the series or,

Well, I have finished Feast of Fools (Morganville Vampires #4) and Slammed and I need to write proper reviews on both of them. So watch for those if you are interested. Every person on the planet should read Slammed, just sayin. I'm working on Going Bovine today and will be starting Freak of Nature either later tonight or tomorrow. It's looks super interesting! Plenty more reads on tap for next week as well. Thanks for being a reader of my blog - I can't tell you how much I appreciate it!

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I gave this book 4 stars. I wanted to give it 5, but it just lacked a tad bit of something...

That being said, I REALLY enjoyed this book. It was a great fantasy adventure. Celeana was a GREAT heroine and accomplished a lot. The story set her up to accomplish even more in the sequel! I can't wait to find out how she fights back against the evil king. I also want to see her and Dorien find a way to be together. He really loves her and I know he doesn't want anyone else. Guess we'll see what will be in book 2, Crown of Midnight. I hope to have this on the schedule very soon!

This book is definitely worth reading if you like a good feminine assassin heroine who is very snarky and holds her own against everyone! Great fantasy, and "good" evil to be defeated, if you know what I mean.

For a first book this was an EXCELLENT start. I should be so fortunate to have a wonderful first novel. WTG Sarah!

Read it and love it!

Breaking Nova by Jesica Sorensen

Breaking Nova (Nova, #1)
Breaking Nova by Jessica Sorensen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amazing. Just Amazing. I'm sobbing over here. Cried for like the last 3 chapters. I can't even think about writing a review right now - my throat hurts too much and I can barely see the screen through my tears. I'll bb when I calm down.

Ok, I'm ready to write, I think. This book obviously affected me greatly. I think the thing that got to me the most, is that real people really go through things like the Main Characters did. It's a very real thing to try to drown yourself in drug use and alcohol and avoidance. It's a real thing to blame yourself (and let other blame you) for something that really truly was NOT your fault. Since these circumstances are very real, even tho it was a work of fiction, it really got to me.

Both of our main characters, Nova and Quinton, experience personal tragedies involving death at roughly the same time, although several states apart. They both deal differently but poorly with the outcomes of these events. Quinton ends up with his cousin in Nova's hometown and the 2 meet. They try to stay away from each other out of guilt, but it doesn't really work. We watch the 2 of them spiral down hill, fast, together until one, Nova, finds a way out of her personal hell and begins to learn how to heal and how to deal... leaving the drugs behind...

This book is not intended for those under 18, due to the elicit drug use. But it is a great work of fiction and I highly recommend it. The ending will leave you craving the sequel (which doesn't come out until 2014) so that you can find out what happens to Quinton. It's been 4 days and I still can't stop thinking about this book and what happened to everyone in it.

Make sure you have some time to devote to the emotional roller coaster but seriously, READ IT AND LOVE IT!

Legend by Marie Lu

Legend (Legend, #1)Legend by Marie Lu
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After waiting forever for my hold copy to come in I finally got this book from my local library! It was so worth the wait.

At 305 pages this story doesn't take much time - it is wonderful. Grabs you immediately. Makes you care about our main characters and despise the ones that need despising. The end actually comes too fast if anything.

This is the Story of a girl named June, born into privilege and wealth and a boy who calls himself Day, born into poverty and slums. Yet for those major differences they are so very similar it is amazing. She an officer in the military (at 15 no less) him an accomplished criminal (at 15 as well) it becomes her mission to hunt him down... The obvious happens as they discover each other and she finds he's not the one responsible for the crime that sent her to find him.

It's a great story, with great writing and good solid characters. I am really anxious to read the next book in the series and see where our main characters end up. One thing is for sure, whatever happens, with these 2 it won't be an easy time of it.

I think you should READ IT AND LOVE IT!

Fate and Fury (Grey Wolves #6) by Quinn Loftis

Fate and Fury (The Grey Wolves, #6)Fate and Fury by Quinn Loftis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I absolutely HATE the way this book ended. I hate pain and suffering and that's all I see in the future for my favorite wolf couple, Jen and Dec. I don't want to be a whiner, but WHY? Argh!

This book was different from the others in the series,in that no one new fell in love or mated, although one couple did get married. It was a lot of pain, a lot of rescue and a lot of healing. And there are still some major wounds that need attending too.

I could list all the couples and their trials, but if you are already on book 6, then you don't need me to list any of that content. Just know that if you made it to book 5, then you will read this book too, and then promptly move on to #7 because like me, you are now DYING to find out what happens with everyone - and I mean everyone. Our "little" wolf family has really grown - a lot!

I have really come to love this series. Once I start a book, I usually finish it the same day. This one was significantly longer (over 500 pages) so it took me 2 days, lol. But still you get the point. If this review is the first you've heard of the Grey Wolves series, go back to book one (which at the time of writing this review is still free on Amazon) Prince of Wolves and get a start on the series. Book one is the weakest of the series, but if you can get through it I promise you will NOT be disappointed in the rest. They are excellent!

I have decided to stop reading this book - for now at least. It's not a bad book, as can be seen from its 4.82/5 Star rating. It just wasn't a book for me.

The writing style was unique and I actually really liked it. I just never connected with the characters like I wanted to, there was no drive to finish, to know what happened. When I was 50% done and there was no glimpse of this amazing orgasm that has been the focus of the whole book, I just couldn't do it anymore.

Seriously, If you like Adult characters, you should try this out. Like I said, it's not a bad book, it just wasn't for me. And you'll never know if it's for you unless you try it.

If you read it I hope you like it!

Free Souls (Mind Jack Trilogy #3) by Susan Kaye Quinn

Free Souls (Mindjack Trilogy, #3)Free Souls by Susan Kaye Quinn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really interesting premise to base a trilogy on. The changing of the minds ability and the use of mind speech instead of talking. Then the further evolution to "mind-jacking".

Interesting ending - one I sure didn't see coming, at all.

It was close to a "Happily Ever After" but not quite... Some damage was definitely done!

I would highly recommend finishing up the Trilogy if you started it. If you haven't, all 3 books are worth reading. Very good story line.

If you read it I hope you love it!

Rules of Attraction (Perfect Chemistry #2) by Simone Elkeles

Rules of Attraction (Perfect Chemistry, #2)Rules of Attraction by Simone Elkeles
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

At first I really didn't want to like this book at all. Carlos was such an arrogant jerk. Felt like the complete opposite of his older brother Alex, who was the MC of the first book in the series. But as usual with all these types of books, it was a HUGE defense mechanism.

It was really great to watch Kiera and Carlos change each other as they are forced to live under the same roof... It makes me hope there are real life situations where people are able to help each other change without even knowing it.

I really liked a bit more of the background on Alex and Brittany. That they had problems too and still persevered.

Kiera's family is AMAZING. I only wish I could be as amazing, as a parent or a human being for that matter.

You don't have to read Perfect Chemistry to read this book, but it's so awesome there's not reason not to! LOL.

Gone (Gone #1) by Michael Grant

Gone (Gone, #1)Gone by Michael Grant
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a very interesting take on the classic "kids have to fend for themselves" theme.

I have been thinking about this book since I finished it. I really liked it. It reminds me of some adult books I've read about similiar circumstances... But to be 14 and under and have to deal with all of this is just amazing.

I'll be honest there's a few things I haven't figured out yet, and I'm sure they will reveal themselves in the following books in the series but they are part of what kept me giving this book a solid 5.

Although it is over 500 pages (558) it read REALLY fast. I read it in 2 days... I was worried it would take me forever but I was pleasantly surprised! It is worth whatever time you invest in it.

I loved all the characters. There are too many to name in this review, but the main ones are Sam, Astrid, Caine and Diana. The good and bad characters were a GREAT mix and it all worked really well together. The "mutations" of the kids and the resulting "armies" that emerge are very interesting! Basically the book ends at a standstill between the 2 sides, each having staked a claim on a part of their world, they affectionately call the FAYZ ( ). There's really not much to say about the book without giving away the plot. If you enjoy dystopias, this is worth checking out.

This is definitely a YA title. The characters are all 14 and under and the themes are very MG to MS appropriate. Just beware if you are an adult reading this - there are NO adults in the book!

Lost and Found by Nicole Williams

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

TOTALLY refreshing and awesome! Readers who love GOOD GUYS will LOVE this NA title! I was totally taken by surprise.

Real review to follow!

First I just want to point out that I stayed up til 12:30 am finishing this book - on a WEEK NIGHT! That means I sacrificed 3 hours of sleep for this book. Right there, that should say it all.

When I started this book I didn't really know what it was going to be about, other than a "troubled girl" and a "ranch hand (cowboy)". Boy it sure turned out be be WAY more than that. One of my favorite lines in the book is Rowen (the main female character) saying that life on the ranch in Montana was pulling the poison out of her body and soul... That pretty much describes the whole book. Rowen believes all the lies people have fed her for years - after a tragic even happens and her mother doesn't believe her and she pretty much goes south from there. We don't see any of this, it's all back ground, but what we do get to see is Rowen falling in love with Jesse and learning to be herself. It was a great thing to watch. Lots of things I didn't see coming provided great surprises during the book.

I can't say enough good things about this book. It is appropriate for older teens, as it is NA but it is NOT graphic - it's actually very sweet. Jesse is one easy guy to fall in love with and I enjoyed watching him be a champion for Rowen.

We do get good glimpses of Jesse too - but not as much as Rowen. There is a sequel, Near and Far, and I haven't decided if I'm going to read it or not. I'm sure it's wonderful, but I'm in such a happy place with how this book ended, I haven't decided if I want to take it further or not yet.

Thanks for the great book, Nicole! I look forward to reading more of your work!

If you are a Morganville Vampire Fan, it's worth checking out! My friend found it for me in a collection of Short Stories called :Many Bloody Returns with a ton of other authors and "birthday" stories.

Origin (Lux #4) by Jennifer Armentrout

Origin (Lux, #4)Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

NO NO NO NO NO! WHAT just happened?!?!?! And seriously, I have to wait almost 8 whole months to find out what happens? Um - heck no!

I literally can't breathe right now, let alone write a review. I'll bb later....

Ok, this is me returning to write my review.

I am sharing this book with a friend. She's out of town on business and I texted her to see when she'd return so I could get her the book. After trading a few stories she said "I can't wait. Or maybe I can - is it bad (as in what happens, not the writing)? O Dear!" To which I replied "It's everything friend, everything. Seriously for parts of it I couldn't breathe. It also made me laugh through parts of it, it was funny."

And that is just the truth. I'm not going to review the story. This is the fourth book in the series, if you're reading my review, you know how excellent the entire series is and I am not going to say ANYTHING that could reveal any part of the plot to you. Much was expected and even more NOT expected at all. It was literally everything: tragic, sad, funny, happy, and shocking. And now, lovely Ms. Armentrout has us waiting 8 months to finish the story.

I have only one piece of advice, if you read it (who are we kidding? WHEN you read it) try to savor it. Take it slow. Enjoy it. I know you're dying to tear through it, just like I did, but you may regret it seeing as you'll be waiting that 8 months along with me.

It was seriously awesome. I have no choice but to wait along with the rest of the Lux fans in the world and I can tell you come April of 2014, everyone will be reading the 5th book, Opposition, and either screaming or cheering. Only Jennifer knows which for sure right now.

Say When (Something More #1) by Tara West

Say When (Something More #1)Say When by Tara West
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

***Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and mature situations. Not intended for young adult readers.***

This is definitely a New-Adult title. As stated above there are semi-graphic sex scenes and situations uch as rape that are not appropriate for readers under 18. But the scenes aren't so graphic as to be classified as Erotica. It's a good balance.

Thank to the publisher of this book for giving me a copy through NetGalley for review! I really appreciate the opportunity to read and review this book!

I wasn't sure what I was going to think of this book when it started but it seriously grew on me and i really ended up liking it. I made a connection with both characters just wanting to see them be able to heal from their tumultuous pasts and to be truly happy together. It was good to watch them discover each other and to be able to trust each other enough to reveal the emotional bonds that were holding tight on to both of them. The side characters in the female MC's, Christina, life were horrendous with really only one diamond shining through. The male MC, Andres, had great family support but demons from being in a war...

It turns out this is the first in a series and I will be anxiously waiting on the next one in line - Say Yes.

Thanks for a good read, Tara West!

If you are over 18, lol, READ IT AND LOVE IT!

Sweet Peril (Sweet Evil #2) by Wendy Higgins

This book was AMAZING. Proper review to come! Sweet Peril (The Sweet Trilogy, #2)Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG! All I can say right now is - DAMN!

Flippin Awesome! Just lost the whole review I wrote. UGH. I'll bb.

Ok, let's try this again, lol. Sometimes you just have to walk away from the computer and then come back another time. Better than chucking the whole thing out the window!

I tore through this book in one day. It is, obviously, the follow up to Sweet Evil. If it's possible, I liked this EVEN better than the first one! There's a lot more character development, a lot more danger and a lot more planning and plotting.

Watching Anna "work" for her father and keeping her innocence at the same time is remarkable. A visit from the Spirit of Sister Ruth changes her whole path, it's awesome to watch it all unfold! That Anna can do what needs to be done and stay innocent enough to wield the sword of the spirit (that kills demons) is not an easy thing to do and she pulls it off quite nicely.

And then we have Mr. Kaiden Rowe. He is extremely swoon worthy. EVEN MORE SO in this book - how that's possible I have absolutely NO idea. None, zip, zilch, zero. But somehow Wendy manages to pull it off. He and Anna are so good together, it is fantastic! And of course I love Kope, the twins, blake and all the new Neph we get to meet in this book. I can NOT wait to see how this all ends and if Anna and Kaiden can really ever be together in this world. It will be a wild ride.

Kaiden Rowe and Daemon Black are in a dead lock for my favorite YA male character from a book. I absolutely love the 2 of them more than I can express in words. Youza is all I can say!

If you liked, or loved Sweet Evil, you really owe it to yourself to give Sweet Peril a read through!

Accordance (Significance #2) by Shelley Crane

Accordance (Significance, #2)Accordance by Shelly Crane
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well that ending just blew. It was how the book needed to end I supposed, but ugh. Proper review to come.

First let me say that I really love Shelly Crane's style of writing. It's fast paced and action packed and she really knows how to develop a character.

I really love this series. I tore through both books in less than one day. This book provides further information on the "Aces" and why their imprinting and abilities have disappeared over a generation - and why they are about to return. There are new players in the game and old ones are eliminated... More imprintings take place and tragic visions of the future cause havoc with 2 of our characters. I can't wait to see how that one turns out!

As I stated above, the ending was terrible, not as in terrible writing, but as in the events that took place and the cliff we were left dangling off of! I find myself wondering if ANY of our characters will get 5 minutes to themselves to enjoy their lives, lol! As I said, Shelly writes a very fast paced book, and this leaves no time for fun - at least fun without complications! So, in order to get myself off of the cliff, there is only one option - move on to book 3, Defiance (Significance, #3) .

As with Significance, READ IT AND LOVE IT!!!!!
